Early 20th Century Signed Silk Hereke Rug
Despite being over 130 years old, this silk Hereke is in exceptional condition. Although silk is a much more delicate material than wool, its preservation is a testament to its value.
Central Medallion: At the heart of the carpet is a multilayered, lace-like medallion, dominated by an intense red.
Ground: The main ground is ivory and a delicate golden yellow, adorned with intricate "islimi" (vine leaf) patterns and symmetrically placed palmetto flowers.
Color Palette: The colors used reflect imperial taste: Rich ruby red, indigo, ivory, saffron yellow, and delicate pastel hues harmonize in a sophisticated harmony.
