Crafts rug is a one-of-a-kind new curation from Rug
Kilim, among the most collectible, rare treasures of the Fetcher House acquired from the late James Hansen’s collection—a long-revered patron of the Chicago Arts
Crafts Society at Hull House who commissioned several gorgeous commissions for the house, including this oversized rug of such astonishing fine quality.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will know Hansen as a long-respected collector and patron of arts, known in particular for his unique additions to the Fetcher House and their striking revivals of such grand sensibilities as those of William Morris and CFA Voysey. This particular palace rug enjoys a most impressive execution of the “Morris Lilly” floral pattern in its field, underscored by a rich autumnal palette of golden-brown, cream, and red hues complementing the same in the single surrounding border. Keen eyes for detail can’t help but admire the deft hand behind this rug’s level of detail and subtlety—from its gentle transitions in color to its fine curvature of pattern—feats made all-the-more impressive considering its astonishing large size and fine weave alike.
