This exceptional 19th century Turkish Oushak runner is a refined example of Anatolian weaving traditions, originating from the historic town of Oushak (Uşak) in western Anatolia—one of the most important carpet-producing centers of the Ottoman Empire.
Oushak rugs have been celebrated since at least the 15th century, when they were commissioned for European palaces and immortalized in Renaissance paintings by artists such as Holbein and Lotto. By the 19th century, Oushak weavers continued this prestigious legacy, producing rugs prized for their harmonious color palettes, spacious compositions, and superb wool quality.
