About the Item

74049 Antique Turkish Oushak Tree of Life Rug, 04'09 x 06'05. Steeped in symbolism and woven with soulful precision, this antique Turkish Oushak rug is a rare embodiment of ancestral storytelling, visual poetry, and cultivated elegance. Hand-knotted in Anatolia during the golden age of Turkish weaving, it features the timeless Tree of Life—a sacred motif signifying growth, fertility, and the cosmic bridge between earth and heavens. Every branch, bloom, and bud invites contemplation, not only of its form, but of its deeper meanings: renewal, lineage, and the quiet grandeur of nature immortalized in thread. Rendered in a warm, abrash-washed field of sun-faded sage, terracotta, and rose madder, the central arboreal figure rises with dignified grace, surrounded by ethereal tribal glyphs and floating botanical symbols that seem to drift across the wool like memories suspended in time. The softly weathered palette — subdued yet radiant — imparts a lived-in elegance, a whisper of antiquity that adds gravitas without heaviness. Framed by a wide botanical border of stylized florals and palmettes, the composition blooms outward in symmetrical rhythm, echoing the meditative cycles of life itself. This exquisite work of art carries the refined sensibility and earthy nobility for which antique Oushaks are celebrated — but its spiritual richness and rare Tree of Life centerpiece place it in a category of its own. The gentle abrasions and softly faded areas are not flaws, but fingerprints of time — proof of authenticity that cannot be reproduced, only earned. It is precisely this patina that gives this exclusive masterpiece its soul: a narrative etched into wool, inviting the eye to linger and the mind to wander. Such pieces are exceedingly rare and increasingly coveted by collectors, connoisseurs, and designers attuned to the deeper language of textiles. Whether gracing a curated gallery wall, anchoring a serene reading nook, or accenting a richly layered interior, this Oushak rug offers more than design — it offers a legacy of sacred geometry and cultural continuity, hand-knotted into existence and preserved with reverence. Rendered in variegated shades of greenish-grayish, brick red, pink, orange, greige, gray, olive, taupe and beige with other accent colors. Abrash. Desirable Age Wear. Hand knotted wool. Made in Turkey. Measures: 04'09 x 06'05. Date: 1900s. Early 20th Century.

Vintage Turkish Silk Hereke Rug with Garden of Paradise Tree of Life Design
Located in Dallas, TX
79160 Vintage Turkish Silk Hereke Rug, 03'04 x 05'03. This hand-knotted vintage Turkish silk Hereke rug unveils a vivid pictorial scene, a magnificent Garden of Paradise woven into its very fibers. The Hereke rug's design is a lush tableau, where nature thrives in every corner. At the heart of the composition lies the revered Tree of Life, its roots deep in the earth, its branches reaching to the heavens, surrounded by an array of life in motion—birds, animals, and blossoms—all painted with the delicate brushstrokes of silk. The rich pinks, reds, and soft golds of the field create an ethereal glow, as though the garden itself has been bathed in the first rays of dawn. Each section of the rug feels like a living scene from an ancient fable, where the earth is fertile and alive with movement. In the foreground, gracefully depicted deer and rabbits wander among the trees, their soft fur and gentle presence inviting peace and tranquility. In the background, birds with their vibrant plumage take flight, filling the scene with a sense of freedom and vitality. The interplay of nature’s creatures—feline and winged, terrestrial and celestial—speaks to the balance of life, captured in the woven artistry of Turkish silk. The elegant design weaves seamlessly into the Tree of Life motif, a symbol of eternal growth and renewal, revered across cultures for its deep spiritual meaning. The trees bloom with abundant blossoms, their pink flowers echoing the natural beauty surrounding them. With each knot, this Hereke rug conjures the timeless beauty of the garden as a reflection of paradise...
