52555 Rustic Antique Persian Mahal Rug, 03'04 x 10'02.
Weathered beauty meets timeless appeal in this hand knotted wool distressed antique Persian Mahal rug. The faded botanical design and muted colors woven into this piece work together creating a relaxed yet elevated feel such as American traditional or even industrial loft. The antique-washed field is covered in an allover repetitive pattern of opulent Mir-a-Boteh motifs. It is framed with a Shekeri border enclosed with inner and outer crenelated fence guard bands.
Gloriously rich with boteh motifs yet faded and muted in tone, this antique worn Persian rug will anchor nearly any traditional style interior with patriotic flair. The widely used boteh motif is thought to symbolize life, growth, and regeneration with its resemblance to a number of natural forms, including pinecones, sprouts, leaves, bushes, and flames. The ambiguous boteh motifs come together into a network that is both meaningful and elegant. Muted iterations of brick red, creamy-beige, and pale blue make this rug a beautiful expression of American, British, or French patriotism. It would also complement mountain living for luxury ski chalets, secluded hunting lodges and rustic ranches found in Montana, Colorado, Lake Tahoe, Wyoming, or the Adirondacks.
