Handwoven and hand-dyed Kilim is made in Pirot. One of the oldest existing tapestry school in Europe. These kilims are typically flat-weave (no pile) made with the slit-weave technique. tribal collections
The weave is often very fine and tight.
Design-motifs often include stylized trees (“Tree of Life”), birds, leaves, geometric medallions, a repeated pattern field, and sometimes prayer‐arch forms.
