About the Item
A very unusual Heriz rug, with a medallion design that is articulated in a way which indicates that it could quite possibly have been intended as a sampler (vaghireh). By weaving rugs of this type, individual mills would promote their ability in interpreting the many Persianate patterns which make up the repertoire of the Heriz area. These rare examples are quite coveted today, especially as they display a more ingenious interpretation of a rather traditional design scheme. A very charming weaving in a lovely and rare medium size and in very good condition.
