Kilim’s rare tribal curations. Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This tribal provenance is one of the most primitive, and collectible shabby-chic styles in handmade nomadic rugs. Exceptional Gabbehs like this are known for thick, lush pile, archaic colors and subversive ideas of patterns for their period. This piece hosts beige-brown and gray field striae, and a rich red outer border with black geometric accents.
Connoisseurs will admire this rug as one of few that enjoy such simple, patternless designs in this provenance.
