Made with hand-knotted wool in Turkey circa 1950-1960, this 6x10 vintage Hereke rug is from an exciting new curation from Rug
Kilim.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will note this piece and those from its series are a rare departure from other Hereke rugs of more traditional structure, and some like this piece almost resemble fragments of larger rugs in their design. These pieces enjoy elegant floral patterns in varied colors (pinks, greens, golds and reds respectively) that sit beautifully on their beige-golden backgrounds. Keen eyes will admire inspiration from Aubusson rugs, and a fine European-style detail therein. This design is a gorgeous marriage of medallions, cartouches, and intricate borders with definition and grace seldom seen in their scale. A sophisticated collectible with rustic charm and French country aesthetics.
