About the Item
Handwoven in a wool flatweave, originating circa 1950-1960, this 5x12 vintage Turkish kilim is an excellent example of the slit weave and is dense with colors that have aged beautifully for its period.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may admire the dark blue field and border underscores geometric patterns in the all over style, with a light, creamy white among the many rich and playful colors at work. Keen eyes for detail may further admire that the size, shape, and movement of the geometry is as fun as the colors at work here, easy to discern from other flatweaves of its period yet quintessential of what makes the most special Kilims out there today. It’s clearly a work of the best dye, with fine detail and the vibrant, saturated colors among the many personal elements that give Kilims their beauty and irreplaceable old-world charm.
It’s a fine play of rustic geometric motifs and stripes in a reserved, sophisticated manner, and its size offers vast design applications, making it well suited to other decorative purposes.

This vintage Turkish tribal kilim enjoys great condition for its age and origin. It is a very collectible piece and is ready for the floor.
