This vintage, circa 1940, Turkish rug has a pale buff-brown field with a pair of linked soft terracotta-pink shield palmettes each containing a delicate ivory palmette and by further floral motifs, surrounded by a pair of bold palmettes at each side and below with scrolling serrated leaves and delicate floral motifs, further similar ivory part lozenges at each side with part palmettes and delicate scrolling floral motifs, in a soft buff-brown border of delicate meandering palmette vine between mole-brown floral vine stripes.
