The rug's striking purple plum-colored field sets a dramatic stage, adorned with two angular floral motifs that add a touch of delicate beauty to the composition. Central to the design are two hooked diamond medallions, known as dragon motifs. In Turkish folklore, the dragon is revered as a great serpent, guarding treasures, secret objects, and the mystical tree of life. The inclusion of these motifs not only enriches the Yastik rug with visual intrigue but also infuses it with layers of symbolic meaning.
Each dragon motif is further enhanced by a central cross design, a powerful emblem of protection against the evil eye. According to Anatolian belief, the cross motif disrupts and diminishes the malevolent power of an evil glance by dividing it into four parts.
