This 9x11 antique Turkish rug of Oushak provenance is a rich and exciting new curation from Rug
Kilim’s collection of important classics—a particularly unique find among works of a celebrated weaving tradition, made with hand-knotted wool.
On the Design:
A meticulously balanced allover design featuring geometric medallions arranged in a precise grid pattern against a luminous golden-ivory field. The field showcases three distinct medallion motifs that alternate in horizontal registers—central diamond-form medallions with angular articulation are complemented by more elaborate palmette-derived medallions that create visual rhythm across the surface. Particularly noteworthy is the carpet's exceptional monochromatic palette—a restrained range of warm golden beige and amber hues. This deliberate color restraint reflects the refined design sensibility that emerged in Oushak workshops during the early 20th century, when more subtle coloration began to supplant the bolder palettes of earlier periods.
The border employs the classical Oushak structure with a primary border featuring an elegant reciprocal pattern complemented by secondary borders that provide perfect transition from field to edge.
