This regal vintage Turkish Oushak rug appears like a sumptuous Italian velvet, recalling the rich and luxurious design furnishings of a bygone era such as the reign of King James I in Jacobean England. The abrashed red field beautifully displays an offset botanical pattern composed of a central large-scale cross-shaped medallion dotted with a cusped medallion near each corner. It is enclosed with a cypress tree botanical border flanked with double inner and outer guard bands. The highly effective use of negative space in the open field ensures the ornate medallions and border take center stage.
