51804 vintage Turkish oushak rug, 04'10 x 08'01.
Showcasing a bold expressive design with incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted wool rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The tribal design and lively colors woven into this piece work together creating a unique look. The abrashed field features a large-scale stepped medallion outlined with a Greek T-meander band. A star motif dotted with birds and rosettes take center stage while tulip motifs and S-shape hooks adorn the pendants. In Anatolian culture, birds traditionally represent happiness, while S-shapes are thought to protect against evil. Ambiguous symbols and tribal motifs decorate the field around the medallions. The main border displays attractive blossom angular Meander motifs, while running water and sawtooth secondary borders gently echo the geometric motifs used throughout the composition. The gorgeous color palette combines a fiery backdrop with lovely hues and earthy accents to great effect. This stylish vintage Turkish Oushak rug would be a charming and chic addition to nearly any interior.
