Made with hand-knotted wool, this 1x2 gift-sized vintage Turkish rug originating circa 1950-1960, is from the collection of mid-century rugs with antique washes giving them that old-world, almost distressed look to them.
On the Design:
The central medallion exhibits a cruciform shape outlined in deep teal, with geometric embellishments at its cardinal points suggesting stylized floral elements. Corner spandrels feature abstracted botanical motifs in muted sage green and the upper and lower borders display a pattern of curved elements interspersed with small geometric details, while subtle vegetal sprays emerge from the medallion's top and bottom, adding organic movement to the otherwise geometric pink-cream field design.
