Hand knotted in wool and originating in Turkey circa 1950-60, this 3x4 vintage rug is a rare and exciting new curation from Rug
Kilim’s collection of one-of-a-kind mid-century Turkish pieces.
On the Design:
This vintage Turkish rug presents a charming and subtly patterned design. The field is a soft, creamy beige, providing a gentle backdrop for the repeating motifs. Delicate, stylized floral bouquets, primarily in shades of rose-red, slate-blue, and muted green, are arranged within a lattice-like framework of thin, light gold lines forming diamond shapes. Its fabulous design is matched only in rarity by its versatile small size—among the best one could find of a rug with this rich patina. This piece is both a fabulous collectible for the connoisseur and a vibrant, unexpected piece, made to both brighten any space with its whimsy and enrich with its sense of culture and history.
Condition:
This mid-century rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Its pile has been lowered, which creates the look of distressed texture throughout the field and border alike.
