This vintage 3x10 Turkish runner rug, hand-knotted in wool, circa 1960-1970, is a new addition to Rug
Kilim Collection. This design featuring field motifs in neutral tones, is likely to be inspired by Indian Mir rugs.
On the Design:
Connoisseurs will appreciate this design, as inspired by Indian Mir rugs, that features a dextrous geometric pattern in the field and the border, in a riot of warm neutral tones. Mir connotes a particular pattern inspired from a region of the same name in India, which easily could’ve reached mid-century Turkey and be reimagined in this play of more neutral tones. The design features geometric field motifs that look to be inspired by more minimalist takes on the paisley (or boteh) motif. Connoisseurs will further admire the sheer attention to detail and color variation that creates its inviting sense of movement. It's playful, comfortable, and versatile runner size and modern sensibility offer vast applications today.
