Hand-knotted in wool and originating from Turkey circa 1960 – 1970, this 3x5 vintage Zeki Müren rug is a unique addition to the Rug
Kilim Collection for its wide range of colors and geometric patterns across the field.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will appreciate this design’s geometric patterns in chartreuse green and cream tones and the playful sense of movement their variety and intricacy lends the piece. This special rug features playful and traditional elements that speaks to Müren as an eclectic designer and marks his rugs distinct in his period. This rug is among Müren’s select works with a more reserved palette, and his use of bold figures and unexpected colors stands out both among works of the period and even among modern rugs today.
