About the Item
Made with hand-knotted wool circa 1960-1970, this 7x10 vintage rug from Turkey is believed to be the work of mid-century Turkish artist Zeki Müren. It’s an extremely rare and collectible new curation from our Mid-Century Pasha Collection—a collection devoted to Müren’s remaining and inspired works in our craft today.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will note this piece to be among the few pictorials attributed to Müren—a unique depiction of two fishes in the sea, with a Joan Miro-esque playful attitude and whimsy. A navy blue open field underscores these twin fishes, which share bright, saturated hues of orange and light gold with black accents. This piece is exemplary of Müren’s unexpected, bold works of eclectic influence that still achieve a joyful and light sense of beauty, and its fine execution of large-scale patterns is another testament to the artist as an student of his craft.
Condition:
This vintage Zeki Müren pictorial rug further enjoys great condition for its age and origin, as well as full pile—an extremely collectible find among his works both designers and curators in high-end rugs will appreciate today.
