Made with hand-knotted wool and originating circa 1960-1970, this 5x9 vintage rug is an exciting new piece in Rug
Kilim’s Mid-Century Pasha Collection—a rare curation believed to hail from mid-century Turkish artist and icon Zeki Müren.
On The Design:
This vintage Zeki Müren rug, distinguished by its ethereal palette of blush and sage, represents an exemplar of Turkish modernist design. One of the many arts of this piece is the variety of colors, and the smart way they’re used to lend such a playful sense of movement and modern mid-century flair to an otherwise soothing repeat of geometric patterns—a mark of finesse considered one of Müren’s many hallmarks.
Admirers of the craft will further appreciate the way such uncommon colors for the period breath a modern sense of life into such traditional patterns like this play of geometric patterns (though the deft hand behind such a fine repeat with so many color variations is ahead of its time as well). Though polychromatic in its colorway, keen eyes will note a particular pink, green and beige-brown undertone in both border and field. Condition:
This mid-century rug enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Its pile height has been lowered to preserve its construction, which lends it the distressed look of wear and boho chic in the nap—a low pile height well-suited to swinging and sliding doors, among many clearance-conscious design applications.
