About the Item
An early 20th-century hand-knotted Turkish village rug from the Oushak region of Western Anatolia, showcasing a beautifully balanced composition of repeating geometric medallions set against a softly abrashed olive-green field. The interior is articulated with octagonal and diamond motifs rendered in warm tones of terracotta, saffron, soft gold, and muted rose, all framed by a wide floral border executed in classic Anatolian village style.
Woven entirely of hand-spun wool on a wool foundation, the rug displays a low, even pile with desirable age wear and natural patina, reflecting decades of use and the organic character associated with authentic village weaving. The naturally dyed palette has mellowed gracefully over time, producing the soft, harmonious coloration prized by collectors and designers alike.
