About the Item
This is an antique European Tetex carpet woven in Germany during the first quarter of the 20th century circa the 1920s and it measures 331x 251CM in size. This rug has a traditional Persian all-over design that takes its inspiration from early classical Royal Safavid rugs. Its design is of large palmettes with protruding cloud band motifs all interconnected with a discreet vine with blossoming flowers set on a burgundy background color. The border continues the theme off larger palmettes connected buys a thin vine with smaller flowers set on an ivory background color which creates color contrasts against the fields darker color. This example has been preserved in excellent full pile condition and has retained all of its original fringes.
