This antique 9x13 needlepoint rug is a rare late 19th century addition to our classic curations. Handwoven in wool from Portugal circa 1920-1930.

This particular rug is called an Arraiolos rug for the town where the weavers are famed for these rugs. They enjoy a more versatile size than most needlepoints we curate of the style, and a seldom-seen detail therein. The border design lends its vivid floral patterns a particularly gorgeous movement and presence that sits gorgeous underfoot. Gold, grays and both light and dark blues mingle with a variety of rich and refreshing hues alike in this detailed, rustic work.
