On the Design:
A gorgeous play of green, blue, pink and cream and other light, refreshing colors creates a graceful softness, and exemplifies the neoclassical inspiration with tasteful elegance. Keen eyes will adore its many soft colors and the grace that play of medallion and floral patterns evoke. Its design further embodies the grandiose sensibility of the titular European style with its elaborate medallion and fan roundels, enclosed within an elaborate floral border. This marriage of color and comfortable, sophisticated style in versatile size exemplifies Josh’s favorite Savonnerie carpets of this period for their unusual nature, and equally so Arts
Crafts carpets of the Voysey and Morris halcyon days as a fabulous marriage of the Neoclassical and soon-to-be-Art Deco design principles. This particular Voysey rug is believed to originate in Ireland, given its similarities to Donegal rugs of this provenance. Its design further hosts the quintessential open field that connoisseurs often associate with this artist’s signature style—though open field designs are especially collectible in handmade rugs today.
The colorway enjoys chartreuse and similar greens, with bright blues and pinks in its borders and floral patterns.
