This antique French Aubusson rug has a tobacco-brown field scattered with delicate floral stems together with an inward facing floral vase in each corner of the field, a polychrome floral garland around a central brick-red roundel with a delicate laurel-leaf surround containing an acanthus leaf rosette with a central flowerhead, in a soft tobacco-brown and ivory narrow linked lozenge border, outer plain tobacco-brown stripes. French Aubusson rugs are elegant, handwoven tapestries that originated in the town of Aubusson, France, during the 17th century.
