About the Item
ASTOR is a stone pebble someone left in the middle of the city. A soft circle with imperfect edges, one side eroded as if worn by time. Its colors — deep gray and beige — recall the contrast between a wet sidewalk and an old concrete wall.
The rug is handwoven from only natural materials, maintaining an even texture and delicate shading between tones. It does not shout — but it is present. Like a memory embedded in the pavement.
Gadi Carmel’s design came from listening to matter as it breaks down — and is then rebuilt.
