About the Item
Christian Duc (Belgium, 1947–2013). ‘Moins C’est Plus’ Rug, circa 1980s. Wool.
This striking woollen rug, titled Moins C’est Plus, reflects the refined minimalist aesthetic of Belgian designer Christian Duc. Produced in the 1980s by the renowned French manufacturer Toutlemonde Bouchard, the piece is decorated with a bold geometric circular motif in terracotta and black, balancing warmth with graphic precision. Measuring 199.5 x 199.5 cm (77 x 77 in), the composition exemplifies Duc’s philosophy of restraint, where reduction enhances visual impact. The design is signed ‘DUC’ in the weave at both the lower right and upper left corners, attesting to its authenticity. It also features aq label underneath. Duc’s work often explored the interplay of geometry, proportion, and surface, and this rug demonstrates his capacity to transform everyday furnishings into works of art.
