Steeped in the elegance of the French Belle Époque, this exquisite Aubusson rug from circa 1900 is a prime example of the refined artistry for which the Aubusson region became renowned. Woven by hand using traditional tapestry techniques, the rug reflects the influence of 18th-century Rococo and neoclassical aesthetics, elevated by the pastel sophistication of early 20th-century French interior décor.
At the heart of the composition lies a lush bouquet of blooming florals rendered in shades of crimson, blush pink, ivory, and coral, gracefully arranged against a powdery ivory-beige medallion. The floral cluster appears suspended in a field of celadon and champagne beige, bordered by delicate scrollwork and palmette motifs in soft peach and warm taupe.
