About the Item
Some of the finest European tapestries and carpets were woven in Aubusson in central France since the 17th century. This carpet dates to the early 20th century and combines an ivory field with borders and medallion traced with flowering greenery. The design conception may have originated in neoclassical models but this rendition employs considerably more freedom with an organic sense of movement that masterfully balances asymmetric elements.
