About the Item
1960s rug with dimensions 280 x 198, made of wool. It features an orange background with a brown border, which brings out a stylized design with plants and characters on an orange background, creating a rustic yet sophisticated atmosphere. It is a folk-popular-inspired piece, reminiscent of traditional Finnish "ryijy" rugs, with origins dating back to 1818.
The carpet patterns evoke motifs found in the book RYIJY: The Finnish Ryijy-Rug (pp. 63-65), which documents the evolution of this traditional style.
