About the Item
Woven in a range of shades of beige and brown, this Art Deco rug is distinguished by an abstract arrangement of intersecting planes with other geometric devices, a design that is characteristic of the carpets by Ivan da Silva Bruhns, who in turn developed it as a result of being inspired by the work of his contemporary painters friends, Pablo Picasso and George Braque. Together they represented the Parisian avant-garde of those years, which was composed of an overlap between writers, poets, painters and decorative artists. There is an artist monogram (A.F) woven on the lower left corner of the field.
