About the Item

Exceptional Antique Turkmen Yomud Mat (Central Asia), Circa 1900 Acquire a truly rare piece of Central Asian nomadic textile history with this small, exquisite antique Turkmen Yomud mat. Hand-knotted from pure wool in Central Asia around the turn of the 20th century (Circa 1900s), this piece is a highly prized collectible item. The mat features the bold, angular geometric designs and distinctive color palette characteristic of the Yomud tribe. The central field is filled with repeating, stylized tribal motifs (often called guls or octagons) set against a warm, deep brick-red background. The striking contrasts are achieved through the use of navy blue, cream, and dark terracotta. The dense, durable wool weaving speaks to its age and original function within a nomadic yurt. This small mat is in Good Antique Condition and retains its powerful tribal charm and rich, faded patina. Detailed Specifications: Origin: Central Asia (Turkmenistan/Yomud Tribe) Style: Yomud (Tribal / Nomadic) Period: Early 20th Century (Circa 1900s) Material: 100% Hand-knotted Wool Condition: Good Antique Condition; Highly Collectible Dimensions (Metric): 40 cm x 51 cm Dimensions (Imperial): Approximately 1 foot 3 inches x 1 foot 6 inches Dominant Colors: Deep Brick Red, Navy Blue, Cream, Terracotta This historic and rare mat is perfectly sized to be framed and hung as fine textile art, displayed on a tabletop, or used as a unique accent piece, bringing authentic tribal history into your collection.
