Jensin Okunishi Studio is a contemporary rug studio that offers an escape from the ordinary. We bridge time-honored traditions and contemporary design using the immersive qualities of color. Our unique custom made hand-knotted rugs are crafted using the Tibetan knotting technique and are made to last a lifetime. With a focus on quality and craftsmanship, artisans in Nepal meticulously tie each knot using soft yet durable Himalayan wool. Because our rugs are custom made, the size, color, material, and pile height are customizable. We strive to create rugs that are not only beautiful but also enduring. We are also delighted to collaborate with you to design a rug that is uniquely yours and will perfectly fit your project's needs. Whether you are designing an entirely new rug or modifying a rug in our current collection, we will work closely with you to consider each detail of the design. Your design will be translated into a weaving plan by master weavers and the wool will be carefully sheared and collected from native sheep living high in the mountains of Nepal. Our master dyers work from our industry standard color pom library, and are also skilled enough to color match upon request. The entire process can take from 12-16 weeks. We hope you enjoy your rug.
