About the Item

A visually striking Indian modernist carpet distinguished by a bright red open field, framed by a wide and contrasting ivory border. Signed by the atelier on the top right outer guard stripe and monogrammed LS in the lower right hand side of the field, these most probably being the initials of the person who commissioned it. A truly unique rug that epitomises the lasting influence of 20th Century European avant-garde movements in the decorative arts of the Far East.
