On the Design:
This regal piece hosts a large-scale medallion in the field, with borders mainly comprised of elegant cartouches—both hosting deliciously detailed, impressionistic floral patterns in botanical sprays underscored by ivory white, light green and pink hues. This marriage of color and comfortable, sophisticated style in large size exemplifies Josh’s favorite Savonnerie carpets of this period. Altogether it’s a piece as deeply personal in its subtext as it is in the details and beauties that distinguish it in our craft—both a masterpiece and a true collector’s rug, teeming with history and culture.
Condition:
This Antique French Savonnerie rug is in good condition, with some mild, subdued wear consistent with age—an extremely collectible find among its provenance and all palace sized rugs alike.
