About the Item

A striking postmodern rug by the renowned Belgian manufacturer Louis de Poortere. Designed by Zofia Rostad, this "City" design is a bold example of late 20th-century design. Made from 100% pure wool, the rug features a dense, hand-tufted pile. It showcases an abstract, gestural design with wide, brush-stroke-like bands of vibrant color—including fiery red, brilliant yellow, and shades of electric blue and teal—set against a deep black background. The dynamic composition and brilliant hues create a powerful visual statement, perfectly capturing the energetic and artistic spirit of the era. Zofia Rostad is a Polish designer who has worked withhome textiles in bright and vivid colours for 30 years. She has exhibited her work at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Decorative Arts Museum) in Paris, the Musée du Papier Peint (Wallpaper Museum) in Rixheim and at the Musée de l’Impression sur Étoffes (Printed Fabric Museum) in Mulhouse. In good vintage condition with light wear. The colors remain vibrant and the pile is full and lush. 5.5’ x 7.5’
