This oversized 16x19 antique rug is a fabulous and extremely collectible early-20th-century Savonnerie rug from the famed “Real Fabrica de Tapices” (or "The Royal Tapestry Factory") in Madrid—an exciting new one-of-a-kind curation from Rug
Kilim's European rug collection, made with hand-knotted wool in the titular workshop of Spain circa 1900-1920.
Admirers of the craft will recognize this piece as an exemplar of the most special finds from this period and provenance, embodying the grandiose sensibility of the transitional and neoclassical styles in its elaborate, regal demeanor and quality alike. Its design hosts an elaborate central medallion in the paneled rosette style, teeming with finely detailed botanical patterns ranging from floral sprays and blossoming garlands to fruit depictions, all in jewel tones and bright, whimsical spring hues with a natural pop over the field's rich, saturated navy blue.
