Made with handwoven wool in France circa 1960-1970, this 3x6 vintage tapestry is a rare and exciting new addition to Rug
Kilim's collection—a signed piece by Belgian artist Edmon Dubrunfaut from his mid-century works in Aubusson.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will appreciate this exquisite Dubrunfaut tapestry as a masterful example of mid-20th century modernist textile art. Titled "Les faisans" (The Pheasants), this wool tapestry is a sumptuous feast for the eyes, showcasing Dubrunfaut's signature style that marries modernist sensibilities with traditional craftsmanship. Against a backdrop of deep, mysterious black, the composition unfolds like a nocturnal reverie. The tapestry portrays three pheasants, their plumage rendered in a rich palette of warm browns, golds, and reds.
