This 8x13 vintage European tapestry is a rare and special new curation from Rug
Kilim—a signed mid-century original by Swiss artist Gérard Ernest Schneider, handwoven in wool and originating from France circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This “composition” enjoys a painterly, graphic series of abstract strokes in hues of blue, black, red, and yellow, exemplary of the radical form of art Gérard Schneider pioneered (Lyrical Abstraction, as it is known in the craft). Deeply inspired by music, his brushstrokes reflect his intention to translate pure emotion into painting—raw and vibrant, physical and unrestrained. It’s a masterpiece with striking detail for its construction, and a fabulous sense of whimsy and presence for any space; a true collector’s piece to be treasured. Keen eyes will note the artist’s signature in the lower-right corner in black.
Condition:
This mid-century tapestry further enjoys great condition for its age and origin—intended for use in wall-hanging projects only.
