Handmade with wool and originating from Germany circa 1920-1930, this 10x13 antique hooked rug is believed to be a rare piece of the renowned Tetex lineage; one of the most exceptional sources of hooked rugs in the 20th century, marking a particularly special new curation of one-of-a-kind pieces from this provenance.
On the Design:
This collectible piece enjoys repetitive floral patterns in the field in play of polychromatic colors, though gold, beige-brown and blue tones are notable. Keen eyes will note the intricate pattern and color variation as unique among works of this provenance—a work of both dimension and tasteful subtlety alike, among the handful with designs inspired by antique Oriental rugs such as this piece's influence from Persian masterpieces.
