About the Item
Eva Nemeth (1930-2019) was the principal designer of the Csaba Weaving Workshop in the 60s and 70s. She was the recipient of many textile design awards, and her work was featured in a number of both solo as well as group exhibitions in Budapest and Paris. Most of her work was woven at the Ziola factory, and was distributed mainly in the Scandinavian countries.
She designed pile rugs and flat-woven tapestries, and these were based on abstract, geometric renditions of elements of nature, including birds as well as landscapes. Here we see a stylised garden pattern, where the various motifs are arranged in a manner that is reminiscent of Oriental Garden carpets.
