Showcasing a bold expressive design, incredible detail and texture, this hand woven wool Vintage German Alice Koch-Gierlichs tapestry is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The bold geometric pattern and lively colors woven into this vintage AKG tapestry work together creating a truly unique look. The abrashed field is covered in an all-over asymmetrical design comprised of amorphous organic shapes with a strong sense of dimensionality. The linear elements running from the top the bottom generate movement within the piece, drawing the viewer in to an alternative reality. Color blocks and striations run across the width in beautiful, elegant gradations. Drawing inspiration from Helen Frankenthaler, Karl Benjamin and Paul Cézanne, this vintage German wall hanging beautifully showcases balanced asymmetry recalling the spontaneity of abstract expressionism.
