About the Item

Lyda Levi (1922-2011) was a leading figure of the post World War II Milanese design movement. In 1946 she collaborated in organising the prestigious 8th edition of Milan’s Triennale exhibition, which helped her gain recognition and credibility in the furniture design world. She was particularly interested in promoting craftsmanship, her own work focusing mostly on developing chairs with rattan. She then opened a major gallery in the heart of what is now Milan’s design hub, extending her interest to various elements of the decorative arts. The rug illustrated here was designed by her and commissioned in the early 60s for her own residence in Milan. The design is composed of a large yellow central lozenge element, arranged in a three-dimensional fashion against a moss green background.
