Handwoven in wool and originating from Moldova circa 1950–1960, this beautiful vintage Moldovan Kilim and flatweave rug is a particularly special new curation from Rug
Kilim's European rug collection—a rare, grand floral design and one of few works from the Moldovan region of former Bessarabia in such condition today.
On the Design:
This piece enjoys a rich black and oak brown ground, which provides a dramatic, velvet-like stage for the brilliant floral imagery. The central field features an elegant oval cartouche framing a lavish, overflowing bouquet of roses and variegated blossoms, surrounded by a vine scroll border of repeating floral sprays.
