About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this one of a kind pair of Phillippe Stark designed for Cassina Eurostar brown leather swivel Egg chairs
These are the only pair in the world with this colour finish, there were 100 made originally in 2002, as mentioned they were designed by the genius that is Phillipe Stark for Cassina who were commissioned by Eurostar. This pair has been hand dyed by my Ralph Lauren trained leather polisher, the colour is exclusive to us and is a whisky brown
About the designer: French designer Philippe Starck's prophetic awareness of ecological implications, his enthusiasm for imagining new lifestyles, his determination to change the world, his commitment to sustainability, his love of ideas, have taken him from one iconic creation to another. From everyday products like furniture and lemon squeezers to revolutionary mega-yachts, vibrant hotels and the miraculous technologies of individual wind turbines and the electric car, he never stops pushing the limits and criteria of contemporary design.
Condition wise the frames have some light age and use related patina marks as you would expect, the leather is exquisite.

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.

Where to begin! If you are looking at this listing then the chances are you know how rare and important this pair is, they have been on a journey of restoration which I’ll talk you through. The chair comes complete with the original Fritz Hansen stamp which dates the piece to July 1968
The original leather hide had faded back to the pre dyed colour, as such I sent them to my leather polisher who was trained by Ralph Lauren when they rolled out their “at home” division across Europe, Ralph taught him how to restore and colour old leather using traditional techniques.
