A charming mid-18th Century French Louis XV giltwood fauteuil. With an elegant shaped back and scrolling open arms above a generously proportioned seat. The carved frame retains a beautifully worn gilt finish with lively rocaille detailing to the apron and cabriole legs. Upholstered in a rich crimson velvet with decorative scrolling motif, finished with close-set nailhead trim. A highly decorative armchair with wonderful colour and patina, ideal for a dressing room, bedroom or as an accent chair in a larger scheme.

18th Century, Italian Louis XV Carved Giltwood Armchair Measurements: cm H 108 x W 73 x D 77, seat H 46 x D 51 x W 61 The splendid large armchair, in finely carved and gilded wood, was made in Genoa, in the Louis XV period, mid-18th century. The pentagonal back has a wavy and curvilinear profile, and is decorated with carvings with phytomorphic and rocaille elements.
