About the Item
This lovely large single chair made in Italy perhaps the Tuscan region in the late 18th cnetury is crafted from fine walnut with a deep rich color and patina. The large deeply carved and decorated arms join uprights that are also carved and decorated the whole is set up and joined to a large center carved front and side stretchers . The construction is peg supported throughout
newly upholstered in a Quadrille fine linen. The upholstery is also enhanced by large cast bronze decorative tacks in several sizes and trimmed out in old bullion trim. The chairs large top finials are also capped with bronze caps and finials. Simple and grand while modern and comfortable the chair is a fine example of 17th-century design that has transcended its time and become a classic form used in many countries as a statement form. This chair comes from the bankruptcy sale of Salander O'Reilly Gallery and was part of the firm's inventory.

This finely carved chair made from costly imported mahogany exhibits many special details including a molded arch back with a pierced baluster shaped splat, shaped arms and graceful cabriole legs headed by atheneum and leaf-shaped carving. All the carving is very fine and the color is its original faded color which is so lovely and special. The chairs generous proportions make it comfortable and easy to use.
