About the Item

A very rare if not unique vintage edition of the Sonett armchair by Alf Svensson with teak armrests. Date of manufacture: 1954 Manufacturer: Ljungs Industrier, Malmö. Wooden construction, brown textile covering, teak armrests. Alf Svensson (1929-1992) was one of the most influential Swedish designers of the mid-20th century. His modernist and minimalist creations contributed to the success of Scandinavian design in the 1950s. His works are exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and at the Victoria Albert Museum in London. The ''Sonett'' armchair is not his best known object but the rarest. It is estimated that fewer than 10 Sonett 1-seater armchairs exist. Our very rare edition with teak armrests is maybe the best seating to read a newspaper, drink your cocktail, or scroll your favorite home decor accounts on Instagram.
