About the Item
Vintage Cesca armchair attributed to Marcel Breuer, featuring the iconic cantilevered tubular steel frame with bentwood armrests and cane seat and back panels. This example comes from the same original owner as a set of labeled Knoll-produced Cesca chairs, and the materials, proportions, and construction are consistent with authentic mid-century production.
The cantilevered form provides a light, floating profile while offering comfortable arm support, making this chair suitable for use as a dining armchair, desk chair, or accent seating. A timeless Bauhaus design that integrates easily into modern, mid-century, and eclectic interiors.
Condition
Good vintage condition, with wear consistent with age and use. Cane seat and back are intact and present well, showing natural tonal variation. Bentwood seat frame and armrests display light finish wear and patina, most noticeable at the front seat edge and armrest ends. The chrome-plated tubular steel frame shows light surface patina and minor areas of oxidation consistent with age, visible primarily along the lower bends. These areas appear cosmetic and may be reduced with gentle cleaning if desired. The chair is structurally sound and comfortable for use.
